Basic Exercise Science

The foundational standard: exercise literacy, safe practice and professional judgement for real-world settings.

30–36 guided hours · 8 modules · Hybrid — virtual + practical workshops

The foundational course in the E3Sports certification pathway. It sets the minimum professional standard for anyone working responsibly in fitness, wellness, sport or community physical activity.

Basic Exercise Science is not about shortcuts — it’s about building a genuine, shared professional baseline. It is not designed to create specialists or clinicians. Instead it ensures every E3Sports-certified practitioner shares the same foundation of knowledge, safe practice and professional judgement upon which all further certifications are built.

By the end, participants share a common understanding of how the body moves and adapts, a clear grasp of foundational exercise principles, and a healthy awareness of professional boundaries.

This course enables you to support general fitness and wellness activities safely, apply foundational exercise principles in real-world settings, work within clear professional boundaries and know when to refer, and progress onto E3’s Applied Practice certifications. It does not cover rehabilitation or medical treatment authority, advanced sports-science specialisation, or diagnosis and prescription — participants seeking these should pursue the appropriate regulated pathways.

Delivered over 30–36 guided hours in a hybrid format — virtual learning sessions paired with onsite practical workshops. Small cohorts: typically 20 places, 30 maximum per intake.
